Palakkad Division of Southern Railway secured multiple prestigious awards and efficiency shields at the 71st Railway Week Celebrations–2026 held in Chennai, reaffirming its strong performance across operational, safety and passenger service sectors. The awards were presented by the General Manager of Southern Railway to Madhukar Roat, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, in recognition of the division’s achievements during 2025-26.
A major highlight was Palakkad Division sharing the coveted General Manager’s Inter-Divisional Overall Efficiency Shield (Winner) with Thiruvananthapuram Division, one of the highest honours in Southern Railway. The division also won the Security Efficiency Shield for its sustained focus on passenger safety and security.
Further strengthening its achievements, the division secured the Signal and Telecommunication Efficiency Shield jointly with Salem Division, the Accounts Efficiency Shield jointly with Thiruvananthapuram Division, and the Rail Madad Performance Shield, reflecting excellence in technology, financial management and grievance redressal.
In the area of cleanliness and passenger amenities, Palakkad Junction Railway Station, along with Tiruchchirappalli Junction, received the Inter-Divisional Cleanliness Shield for Best Kept Station. Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Perambur, jointly with Palakkad Division, was also honoured with the award for Best Family Welfare Centre.
Congratulating officers, supervisors and staff for their contributions, Madhukar Roat said the awards reflected the collective dedication, professionalism and commitment of the entire workforce. He expressed confidence that the recognition would inspire the division to achieve even higher standards while continuing to provide safe, efficient and passenger-centric railway services.
