PSG Tech hosts International Conference on construction materials and structures

As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations marking 75 years of academic excellence and service to society, the Department of Civil Engineering of PSG College of Technology inaugurated the International Conference on Recent Advances in Construction Materials and Structures (RCMS 2026) on Friday.
Prof. C.G. Sivakumar, Associate Professor and Head (in-charge) of the Department of Civil Engineering and Convener of RCMS 2026, welcomed dignitaries, delegates, industry representatives, sponsors, researchers and participants, and highlighted the importance of the conference in promoting global academic and industrial collaboration.
Dr. S. Praveen Kumar, Associate Professor and Organising Secretary of RCMS 2026, presented an overview of the conference, detailing its technical sessions, keynote lectures and industry participation aimed at fostering research and innovation in civil engineering.
Presiding over the inaugural function, Dr. P.R. Thyla, Principal (FAC) of PSG College of Technology, stressed the need for interdisciplinary research, sustainable infrastructure development and stronger academia-industry partnerships to address future societal challenges. The conference proceedings comprising peer-reviewed research papers on construction materials, structural engineering and infrastructure systems were formally released during the inaugural session.
Shri Nimesh D. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Maruti Infrastructure Limited, Ahmedabad, inaugurated the conference and underscored the importance of innovation, quality, sustainability and technology adoption in the construction sector.
Prof. Mohamed A. ElGawady of Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA, and Prof. Hassan Al Nageim of Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, participated as Guests of Honour and spoke on structural resilience, disaster-resistant infrastructure, sustainable construction materials and environmentally responsible technologies.
RCMS 2026 features eight international keynote speakers and eleven national keynote speakers addressing topics related to sustainable construction, advanced materials, structural resilience and emerging engineering technologies. The conference has drawn 120 delegates from academic institutions, research organisations and industries from India and abroad.
The two-day event includes 12 technical sessions and an industrial exhibition with 10 stalls displaying innovative products, testing equipment, software solutions and engineering services. The conference has received support from 25 sponsors and supporting organisations.
The conference is convened by Prof. C.G. Sivakumar and organised by Dr. S. Praveen Kumar of the Department of Civil Engineering, PSG College of Technology.
