Coimbatore student wins Global citizen scholarship to study at Singapore GIIS SMART campus

Coimbatore student Ponmanikandan Ponraj has been awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Scholarship, securing a 100 per cent scholarship to pursue his senior secondary education at the GIIS SMART Campus in Singapore.
The scholarship, instituted by Global Schools Group (GSG) in 2008, recognises students with outstanding academic excellence, leadership qualities and overall potential. Ponmanikandan is among the 12 students selected from across India this year for the fully funded scholarship.
The Global Citizen Scholarship covers 100 per cent of tuition fees, boarding, accommodation, living expenses and a stipend for Grades 11 and 12. Students at the GIIS SMART Campus can pursue either the CBSE or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The scholarship is valued at approximately ₹1 crore per student for the two-year course.
Pramod Tripathi, Director, Academics, Global Schools Group, said the scholarship is an investment in young students with the potential to become future leaders and innovators.
He added that the selected scholars have demonstrated academic excellence, resilience, leadership qualities and a commitment to creating a positive impact in society.
Ponmanikandan Ponraj said receiving the Global Citizen Scholarship was a significant milestone in his academic journey. He said studying at the GIIS SMART Campus in Singapore would provide him with an opportunity to learn in a global environment, broaden his perspective and develop the skills required to achieve his future aspirations.
The scholarship recipients were felicitated at a ceremony held in New Delhi in the presence of parents, educators and senior officials of Global Schools Group. Ponmanikandan will now join an international learning community that promotes academic excellence, leadership and lifelong learning.
