Four Children killed as milk van rams into them near Dindigul

Four children were killed after a milk van ran over them near Vadamadurai in Dindigul district on Sunday afternoon. Their grandmother, who witnessed the accident, fainted from shock and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Anjammal, wife of Palanisamy and a resident of Kollapatti Samathuvapuram near Vadamadurai, was grazing goats by the roadside at Kanavai Medu when the accident occurred. Children of her relatives had accompanied her and were playing by the roadside.
At that time, a milk van travelling at high speed lost control and rammed into the children who were sitting by the roadside. Nagraj’s daughters Yoga Varshini, 11, and Ananya, 6, Jagadeesan’s daughter Thanusri, 5, and Chinnathambi’s son Mosikaran, 6, died on the spot.
Anjammal fainted in shock after witnessing the accident. The van did not stop and fled the scene. The driver later abandoned the vehicle a short distance away and escaped.
On receiving information, Vadamadurai police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies of the four children and sent them to Dindigul Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Anjammal was admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment.
Vadamadurai police registered a case and arrested Saravanakumar of Kurundampatti, the driver of the milk van. He is being questioned in connection with the accident.
