Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan in Guindy on Sunday and discussed the conclusion of the Budget session of the Legislative Assembly.
The first session of the newly constituted Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly began on June 18 with the Governor’s Address. The discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address was subsequently held in the Assembly.
The Budget session commenced on August 5. Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson presented the State Budget for 2026-27 on August 5, while Agriculture Minister Vinoth presented the Agriculture Budget on August 6. The debate on the two Budgets began on August 7.
The debate concluded on August 12 following the replies by the two Ministers. Discussions on demands for grants for various departments were subsequently held in the Assembly.
During the meeting, the Speaker and the Governor discussed the conclusion of the Budget session and the functioning of the Assembly. The Governor appreciated the Speaker’s conduct of the House proceedings and his functioning.
