Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in Coimbatore has been lauded by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for its continued efforts in creating awareness on organ donation and inspiring people to pledge their organs.
The multi-specialty hospital has been carrying out awareness drives every year. This year, it launched a nationwide campaign to encourage voluntary registration for organ donation. The initiative, inaugurated by Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, recorded a remarkable response, with 45,861 pledges collected between February and April 2025 from across India.
Tamil Nadu continues to lead the country in organ donation. In 2009, Chief Minister Stalin and his wife Durga Stalin registered as organ donors, setting an example for the people. In 2023, the State government also announced that state honors would be given to individuals donating their organs after being declared brain dead. This policy has encouraged several families to come forward and consent to organ donation during difficult times.
Recognising the hospital’s contribution to this noble cause, the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Shri R. Sundar, Managing Trustee of the SNR Charitable Trust, which manages Sri Ramakrishna Hospital. He said such initiatives help strengthen the culture of organ donation and bring hope to patients waiting for transplants.
The hospital stated that it would continue its mission to spread awareness across the country and motivate more people to pledge their organs, thereby saving lives and setting an example in healthcare-driven social responsibility.
