A wedding ceremony between families from Prayagraj and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh was briefly derailed after a pet dog’s barking sparked a clash between relatives, leaving three persons injured.
Tanya, a native of Prayagraj, was engaged to Sumit from Kanpur. The wedding was arranged in Fatehpur on February 18, with celebrations held in the early hours around 4 a.m.
According to sources, a pet dog at the venue began barking continuously at the gathering, reportedly irking members of the groom’s family. Tension escalated when a relative allegedly threw a stone at the dog. The act angered the bride’s family, leading to a heated argument between the two sides.
The verbal exchange soon turned violent, with relatives hurling objects at each other. In the scuffle, three persons sustained head injuries and were admitted for treatment. The dispute reached the local police, and the wedding rituals were halted midway.
Amid the turmoil, the bride was left distressed. However, she later took the initiative to restore peace and approached the groom’s family for reconciliation. After initial reluctance, the groom’s family agreed to resume ties.
In a subsequent social media post, the couple clarified that they had legally registered their marriage in January and were not concerned about the disruption of the ceremonial function. The development reportedly eased tensions between the two families.
