Haryana labourer becomes father to son after 10 daughters

A daily wage labourer from Fatehabad district in Haryana has become a father to a male child after having ten daughters over the past several years, drawing attention in the region.
Sanjay Kumar, a resident of a village in Fatehabad district, got married in 2007. Keen on having a male heir, his family grew with the birth of ten daughters over the years. His eldest daughter is currently studying in Class 12.
Recently, Sanjay Kumar’s 37-year-old wife delivered a baby boy, becoming the couple’s eleventh child. Doctors said the delivery was high-risk, but both the mother and the newborn are stable.
Obstetrician Dr. Narveer Sheoran, who attended the delivery, said that despite complications associated with the pregnancy, timely medical intervention ensured the safety of both mother and child.
Speaking to reporters, Sanjay Kumar said that he was happy with the birth of his son and added that some of his daughters had also wished for a younger brother. He said he was making efforts to educate all his children despite financial constraints.
The incident has sparked discussion locally, once again highlighting issues related to gender preference and social attitudes in parts of the country.
