Doctors at Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, Neelambur, have successfully performed a complex Reverse Shoulder Replacement Surgery on a 72-year-old man, helping him regain shoulder mobility and return to an independent life.
The patient had been suffering from severe shoulder pain and restricted movement for more than seven months, which severely affected his ability to perform routine daily activities. Medical evaluation revealed an irreparable rotator cuff tear, following which reverse shoulder replacement was identified as the most effective treatment option.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Dinesh Chidambaram, Consultant Arthroscopy and Trauma Surgeon.
Post-surgery, the patient has shown significant improvement, with a marked increase in range of motion and the ability to carry out daily activities without assistance.
Speaking on the outcome, Dr. Dinesh Chidambaram said the procedure had given the patient a new lease on life, allowing him to enjoy an active and pain-free routine with his family once again.

Dr. K. Madeswaran, Chairman and Managing Director of Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, said reverse shoulder replacement surgery is particularly beneficial for elderly and high-risk patients, as it offers a safer and more effective alternative to conventional shoulder procedures.
He added that the technique has proven to be an excellent solution for patients suffering from long-standing shoulder pain and mobility issues.
The hospital’s Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation supports post-surgical recovery across specialties with state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced pain management, neuro-rehabilitation services, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and pelvic floor rehabilitation, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
