DMK candidate for Coimbatore South constituency Senthil Balaji on Tuesday said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been a “bulwark of protection” for minorities, while seeking support during an interaction at CSI Immanuel Church in Uppilipalayam.
Addressing a gathering after meeting church administrators and reverends, Senthil Balaji described the upcoming Assembly election as a “contest between Tamil Nadu and Delhi” and urged voters to support the DMK-led alliance.
He assured the Christian community that he would act as a bridge between them and the government, promising to address issues related to burial grounds and facilitate permissions for construction of churches. He said people need not approach multiple government offices and that he would take responsibility for resolving such concerns.
The DMK leader reiterated that the State government under M.K. Stalin has consistently ensured protection and welfare of minorities, particularly the Christian community. He added that he would work to fulfil their needs not only in his constituency but across Coimbatore district.
Appealing to voters, especially youth, he called for support to the DMK in the remaining days of campaigning, emphasising that the election would determine the State’s future direction.
The meeting was attended by Singanallur alliance candidate Srinidhi, CSI Bishop Prince Calvin, Rev. Raja, Coimbatore MP Ganapathy Rajkumar, Pastor Jawahar Samuel, Pastor Johnson CSI Immanuel Church Secretary Dr. Chandran, PC Member Arivazhagan, CSI Christ Church Secretary JA Paramandham , Treasurer Arun Anandaraj. DC Member Godwin Koil, SN Jacob and several Church representatives participated.
