In a display of communal harmony, a Muslim family from Thanjavur offered special prayers and organised a community feast at the Veeramakali Amman Temple after their prayers were fulfilled.
Zakir Hussain (52), who runs a grocery shop at Vilar Salai in Navalar Nagar, Thanjavur, had been deeply worried about the health condition of his son, Paris Khan (27), a B.E. graduate, who was suffering from illness. Neighbours in the area consoled the family and suggested that prayers be offered at the renowned Veeramakali Amman
Temple. Following this, Zakir Hussain, along with his wife Tansila (48) and family members, visited the temple and offered prayers seeking their son’s recovery. After Paris Khan fully recovered and returned home, the family decided to fulfil the vow they had made. On Sunday, the family celebrated Pongal at the Veeramakali Amman Temple, performed special pujas and organised a curry feast for the public. More than 200 people from the surrounding area took part in the feast.
The gesture drew attention in the locality and was widely appreciated by residents as an example of religious harmony and mutual respect among communities.
