TVK’s Vijay Vows to Raise Puducherry’s Voice

Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay assured that he would raise the concerns of Puducherry with the same commitment as Tamil Nadu, addressing a large public meeting held here today.
Speaking at the rally, Vijay said:
“I will join the people of Puducherry in raising my voice. That is also my duty. The Union Government may consider Tamil Nadu a State and Puducherry a Union Territory, but for us there is no difference. Wherever they live, our people are our relatives.”
Recalling the political legacy of M.G. Ramachandran, he said:
“Before coming to power in Tamil Nadu in 1977, MGR formed the government in Puducherry in 1974. It was Puducherry that alerted Tamil Nadu, saying ‘This leader is ours—do not miss him.’ How can we forget such a Puducherry?”
Vijay said the people of Puducherry had supported him just as strongly as the people of Tamil Nadu over the last 30 years.
“Do not think I will only raise my voice for Tamil Nadu. I will also speak for Puducherry. That is my responsibility as well,” he said.
He praised the Puducherry government for ensuring non-discriminatory security arrangements during political events.
“Even if another party organises a programme, this government provides protection to everyone who attends. I sincerely thank the Chief Minister of Puducherry,” he added.
Vijay criticised the Tamil Nadu government, saying the DMK should learn from Puducherry’s governance style.
“They will not learn on their own. The people will teach them in the upcoming elections,” he said.
He also accused the Union Government of neglecting Puducherry’s development demands.
“Repeated Assembly resolutions seeking statehood have not been honoured. Not a single mill or factory closed in Puducherry and Karaikal has been reopened. Thousands of youth remain unemployed, and there is no initiative to set up an IT company here,” he said. Vijay pointed out that Puducherry was the only region in India without ration shops.
“Just as Tamil Nadu is being sidelined, the Union Government should not isolate Puducherry,” he warned.
Concluding his address, Vijay appealed to voters:
“I have only one thing to tell the people of Puducherry — do not trust the DMK; they will deceive you. The TVK flag will fly high in the upcoming Puducherry elections. Victory is certain.”
