Neet twice cleared student wins in Supreme Court secures MBBS seat

In a significant relief to a 19-year-old NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh, the Supreme Court has directed authorities to grant him provisional admission to the MBBS course for the 2025–26 academic year.
Atharva Chaturvedi, a resident of Jabalpur, had cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for undergraduate medical courses twice under the Economically Weaker Sections quota. In his second attempt, he secured 530 out of 720 marks.
However, he was denied admission as the Madhya Pradesh Government had not implemented EWS reservation in private medical colleges.
After failing to secure relief from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Atharva moved the Supreme Court challenging the denial of admission. The matter was heard by a Bench led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna.
During the hearing, Atharva appeared through video conferencing and presented his submissions. Accepting his plea, the Bench invoked its special powers and directed the National Medical Commission and the State Government to grant him provisional MBBS admission within a week.
The court also made strong observations, stating that if private medical colleges fail to implement the mandated reservation policy, stringent action would follow.
