Stalin slams Hindi imposition over Trichy railway Signboard

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday strongly criticised the BJP-led Union Government over alleged Hindi imposition, citing the naming of a railway office entrance in Tiruchirappalli.
In a post on his social media page, Stalin said the BJP government was “crossing all limits” in its attempt to impose Hindi across the country.
Referring to the signboard at the entrance of the Tiruchirappalli Railway Zonal office carrying the Hindi name “Kartavya Path”, he said the Union government was trying to introduce “one language in three fonts” by writing Hindi words in Tamil and English scripts.
The Chief Minister also pointed to other instances such as the use of the name “Bhavishya Nidhi Bhavan” for Employees’ Provident Fund offices and the renaming of the Union Ministry of Water Resources as “Jal Shakti”.
He further alleged that even new criminal laws were being written using Sanskrit names in English script, which he said reflected the Centre’s growing tendency to impose Hindi.
Stalin said such actions hurt the self-respect of Tamil people and demanded that attempts to impose Hindi in place of Tamil and English names should be immediately withdrawn.
He warned that if such measures continued, it would unite the people of Tamil Nadu against the move.
